Anke Huyben
This necklace is made out of pictures of me and my body, mostly nude. The gestures are vulnerable positions, body parts that can be seen as sexual, and my skin. By cutting up the images and rolling them into beads, only small parts of me can be seen. The pearl necklace symbolises the transformation from a girl to woman. It’s pure and innocent, but these beads are most definitely not. They refer to my experiences of how people see, and approach me. I’m reduced to fractions of myself. Fractions of how other people see me, or want to see me.
